On Thursday September 18 2014, CAOT and CAA hosted a CarFit Training and Public Check-Up Event.
Elin Schold Davis led the CarFit Event Technician & Coordinator Training Workshop, which is designed to train participants to take on the important role within the CarFit Programme. CarFit is a community-based education program that offers mature drivers the opportunity to discover how well their cars “fit” them so they can become both safer and more comfortable behind the wheel.
CAOT and CAA hosted the event as a pre-conference workshop for the OSOT Conference. Over 40 occupational therapists, Driver rehabilitation specialists and CAA staff took part in the training at Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel and Suites, in Toronto, Ontario.
After the training, we held a public event the CarFit technician reviewed the 12-point CarFit checklist with 15 participants. We were also pleased to welcome the York Police Department to the event.
All participants enjoyed the event and where excited to bring the CarFit Programme to their local communities.
